RevPi eMMC MTBF enhancements

The eMMC is on the Compute Module of the RevolutionPi Core, Connect, Flat, Compact devices.

There is an MTBF for this component. We cannot influence this, but this article is intended to show ways of extending it considerably.

Instructions

  • Have a look at this discussion Predicting lifetime of eMMC storage

  • Open the WebStatus - there is an option to write data to a "tmpfs":

    • Advantage – data does not burden the lifetime of the eMMC.

    • Disadvantage – data in RAM is not permanently stored
