XPS-E FAQ

XPS-E Gateway

Where can I find the GSD file?

Here is the GSD file for the device above.

Is there a reference about the PROFIBUS module configuration?

XPS-E provides numerous IO modules. The selection depends on the max. telegram length to be sent or received via the serial interface. If, for example, a 16 byte-in/16 byte-out module is configured, 13 bytes of net data can be sent or received at a time. The first 3 bytes in the in the input/output data contain control bytes/bits for data flow control. If larger IO modules were defined for this purpose, this would only unnecessarily burden the PROFIBUS performance.

Are the RS-485 and RS-232 interfaces galvanically isolated?

The serial interface of the XPS-E is not galvanically isolated from the 24V power supply, both grounds are identical and have the same potential.

It is therefore quite possible that a high short-circuit current flows via the GND line if the polarity of a device connected to the RS232 interface.

The Profibus interface is galvanically isolated.
