After installing the DF PROFINET IO VISA DRIVER, LabVIEW 2020 does not show the Kunbus Function Palettes, Examples and Helpfiles.

Hardware:

  • DF PROFINET IO PCI/CPCI/PCIe

Software:

  • Windows, LabVIEW and NI VISA Driver

  • DF PROFINET IO LabVIEW VISA Driver

Solution:

 

The DF PROFINET IO VISA DRIVER does not automatically detect LabVIEW 2020 on your PC. Therefore, it is necessary to copy the files manually onto your system as described below. The functionality of the driver is not affected.

Workaround

  1. Install the “DF PROFINET IO LabVIEW VISA Driver”

  2. Download the files and copy the folders “DF PROFINET IO” as described below onto your system:

    1. Generate the folders if they are not present.

    2. The folder´s name to copy from “LabVIEW VISA Driver files” is always: “DF PROFINET IO”

 

  1. Copy the folder in “\LabVIEW VISA Driver files\Examples\DF PROFINET IO\” to:

    1. “C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2020\examples\KUNBUS GmbH”

The examples will not be shown in LabVIEW - Find examples. They are located in the directory and the project “DF PROFINET IO Getting Started” contains the example VIs.

  1. Copy the folder “\LabVIEW VISA Driver files”\Function Palette\DF PROFINET IO\” to:

    1. “C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2020\menus\Categories\Industrial Communications\KUNBUS GmbH”

The Function Palettes will show up in LabVIEW as usual.

  1. Copy the folder “\LabVIEW VISA Driver files\Driver Files\DF PROFINET IO” to

    1. “C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2020\vi.lib\KUNBUS GmbH”

 

After copying manually the files onto your PC:

  1. Check out the manual located in the file “Help.zip”

  2. Open the LabVIEW Project located in:

    1. “C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2020\examples\KUNBUS GmbH\DF PROFINET IO\DF PROFINET IO Getting Started.lvproj”
